Can I not pay social security during the probation period?

Legal analysis: the probation period is the longest investigation period of no more than 6 months agreed by the employer and the employee for mutual understanding and choice. During the probation period, the laborer has established a labor relationship with the employer, and the laborer is already an employee of the employer and must pay social insurance. The probation period is included in the labor contract period, so social insurance should be paid.

Legal basis: Article 58 of People's Republic of China (PRC) Social Insurance Law.

The employing unit shall, within 30 days from the date of employment, apply to the social insurance agency for social insurance registration for its employees. If the social insurance has not been registered, the social insurance agency shall verify the social insurance premium it should pay.
