The social security card can only be used after it is activated, but it does not have to be activated in the bank.

The insured person needs to activate the social security card within half a year after receiving it, otherwise the original medical insurance card will be restricted and the social security card cannot be used without activation.

3. You can insert a social security card to buy medicine at the designated pharmacy of medical insurance cooperation, and directly enable social security card consumption. After getting the social security card, the insured person needs to complete the activation within 300 days, otherwise the social security card will be lost, or he can entrust others to handle it at a designated bank. Entrustment requires a power of attorney and the identity card of the insured.

To sum up, the activation of social security cards is not limited to banks, mainly because social security cards include social security accounts and financial accounts. If you only need to use the social security account, you can activate it directly at the designated medical insurance hospital or pharmacy, just bring your ID card and medical insurance card.
