Can social security be reimbursed for giving birth to a child?

Legal analysis: Self-funded medical insurance is only applicable to reimbursement of general medical expenses. However, giving birth to a child belongs to the category of maternity insurance and is paid by the employer. Individuals can't pay, so they can't enjoy the corresponding maternity insurance benefits when they give birth.

Legal basis: Article 29 of the Social Insurance Law of People's Republic of China (PRC) stipulates that the medical expenses incurred by the insured shall be paid by the basic medical insurance fund and directly settled by social insurance agencies, medical institutions and pharmaceutical trading units. The administrative department of social insurance and the administrative department of health shall establish a settlement system for medical expenses in different places to facilitate the insured to enjoy the basic medical insurance benefits.
