What is a five-in-one social security card?

Social Security Card is called "Social Security Card of the People's Republic of China", which is an integrated circuit card (ic card) issued by local human resources and social security departments under the unified planning and design of Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security. It has the characteristics of "one card for multiple purposes" and "national use".

Compared with the original medical insurance card, the new generation social security card is printed with the cardholder's personal basic information: name, gender, ID number, expiration date, avatar, and can also load the bank card number information, which is equivalent to the second "ID card" of the individual.

The new social security card covers five kinds of social insurance: pension, medical care, work injury, maternity and unemployment. Its issuance will promote the "five-in-one" payment of medical insurance, unemployment insurance, old-age insurance, industrial injury insurance and maternity insurance, which can be used as a medical certificate and can also be used to query social security personal accounts.

Different from the old "medical insurance card", the social security card has four functions:

The second is the recording function, which records the cardholder's labor security information and social insurance payment, pension insurance personal account information, medical insurance personal account information, professional qualifications and skills, employment experience, work-related injuries and occupational disease disability;

The third is the financial function, which provides cardholders with the financial function of bank debit card, and completes the payment of social insurance and employment and reemployment preferential policies through the social security card financial account;

Fourth, the inquiry function, the cardholder can inquire personal labor security and social insurance professional information in the street (township) labor security service center.
