The social security card is not activated. Not when you go to the hospital.

Social Security Card is an integrated circuit card which is uniformly planned by Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security and issued to the society by local human resources and social security departments, and used in various business fields of human resources and social security.

Social security cards have a wide range of functions. Cardholders can not only use the card for medical treatment and real-time settlement of medical insurance personal accounts, but also handle endowment insurance affairs. Go through the formalities of job registration and unemployment registration; Apply for unemployment insurance; Apply for employment training; Apply for labor ability appraisal and enjoy work-related injury insurance benefits; Handling labor and social security affairs online.

There are two ways to activate the social security card:

1. The insured needs to activate the social security card at the corresponding bank outlet with his social security card and the original identity certificate. After activation, the medical insurance account returns to normal, and the social security function can be directly activated by using the social security card in designated medical institutions. When the insured person uses the social security card for the first time in a designated medical institution, he can directly open the social security function by registering the outpatient or inpatient service normally;

2. When the insured uses the social security card for the first time in the designated medical insurance pharmacy, he can activate the social security card by inserting the original medical insurance card and then inserting the social security card as required.

The role of social security card mainly has the following two points:

1, the insured can take the social security card and my ID card to any designated hospital in the city where the insured is located for hospitalization and outpatient treatment;

2. When the insured goes to any designated hospital in the city to see a general outpatient clinic or buy medicine at a designated pharmacy, the required expenses can be paid by credit card, and the medical expenses that should be borne by the individual according to the regulations such as hospitalization and outpatient treatment can be paid by credit card. The funds in the insured's personal medical insurance account can only be used for targeted medical consumption.

People's Republic of China (PRC) Social Insurance Law Article 2 The state establishes social insurance systems such as basic old-age insurance, basic medical insurance, industrial injury insurance, unemployment insurance and maternity insurance to protect citizens' right to get material help from the state and society in the event of old age, illness, industrial injury, unemployment and maternity.
