Can I voluntarily raise the social security base?

For employees, wages cannot be raised, but for flexible employees, wages can be raised voluntarily.

According to Baidu French Network, taking employee social security contributions as an example, the base of social security contributions cannot be adjusted by employees themselves. The social security payment base is determined according to social wages, and then the company determines the social security payment grade. Employee social security is based on the payment grade determined by the company, with the company bearing 20% and the employees bearing 8%. As for the social security payment of flexible employees, there are five payment grades to choose from, corresponding to different payment bases. Within this range, flexible employees can choose their own social security payment base. Therefore, it is impossible for employees to raise their wages, but it is possible for flexible employees to raise their wages voluntarily.

Article 60 of the Social Insurance Law of People's Republic of China (PRC): The employing unit shall declare by itself and pay the social insurance premium in full and on time. Except for legal reasons such as force majeure, the payment shall not be postponed or reduced. The social insurance premiums that employees should pay shall be withheld and remitted by the employer, and the employer shall inform me of the details of paying social insurance premiums on a monthly basis. Individual industrial and commercial households without employees, part-time employees who have not participated in social insurance in the employing units and other flexible employees can pay social insurance premiums directly to the social insurance premium collection agencies.
