Five of what we usually call "five insurances and one gold" (namely, old-age insurance, industrial injury insurance, maternity insurance, medical insurance and unemployment insurance) must be paid by employees, and there is no mandatory requirement for housing provident fund in law.

Nationwide, laws and regulations do not force employees to pay housing provident fund. Housing accumulation fund is not a category of social insurance, but only a category of employee benefits provided by the unit.
