Does social security include accident insurance?

Social security does not include accident insurance. Social security mainly includes five types of insurance, namely, endowment insurance, maternity insurance, medical insurance, industrial injury insurance and unemployment insurance. Accident insurance belongs to commercial insurance, which can directly and independently compensate the physical injury caused by external, sudden and unintentional objective events, and the insurance company pays the insurance compensation. Therefore, accident insurance is not covered by social security.

The basic content of accident insurance is that the insured pays a certain amount of insurance premium to the insurer. If the insured suffers an accidental injury during the insurance period, and the accidental injury is a direct or proximate cause, resulting in the death, disability, medical expenses or temporary incapacity of the insured within a certain period from the date of the accidental injury, the insurer will pay a certain amount of insurance money to the insured or its beneficiaries. According to the contract, the insured pays the insurance premium to the insurer, and the insurer shall bear the liability for compensation for property losses caused by the possible accidents agreed in the contract, or pay the insurance premium when the insured dies, is disabled or sick or reaches the age and time limit agreed in the contract.

Engaged in insurance activities must abide by laws and administrative regulations, respect social morality, and shall not harm the public interests. The parties to insurance activities shall exercise their rights and perform their obligations in accordance with the principle of good faith. Insurance business is operated by insurance companies established in accordance with this Law and other insurance organizations as stipulated by laws and administrative regulations. No other unit or individual may engage in insurance business.
