Bayannaoer, also known as Hetao, Bameng and Bashi, means "rich", "Naoer" means "lake" and "Bayannaoer" means "rich lake". Bayannur City is located in the west of Inner Mongolia, bordering Baotou City in the east, Alashan League and Wuhai City in the west, Ordos City across the Yellow River in the south and Mongolia in the north, with a total area of 65,000 square kilometers.
