Rural social security policy adopts a combination of individual contributions, collective subsidies, and government subsidies as the financing method, in order to protect the basic life of farmers in old age, a kind of pension insurance policy.

The historical evolution of the rural social security payment policy can be traced back to the early 1980s. At that time, the Chinese government began to implement a rural social security system aimed at guaranteeing farmers' basic living needs and social security rights and interests. Initially, rural social security contributions were mainly voluntary and implemented in the form of individual contributions by farmers. However, over time, the government realized the limitations of individual contributions and gradually introduced government subsidies and collective financial support to ensure the sustainable development of rural social security. In the process, the contribution standard, subsidy policy and coverage have also undergone a number of adjustments and reforms.

In summary: the rural social security payment policy has been gradually improved and the coverage has been expanded, providing farmers with more comprehensive and reliable social security.
