How long can social security take after the death of the rural elderly?

Social security can be paid for one month after death. For retirees who are confirmed dead, the pension insurance treatment will be stopped from the next month after the death of retirees. The personal account balance of endowment insurance will be generated through the endowment insurance information system, which will be repaid in one lump sum, and funeral expenses and one-time pension will be distributed according to the policy. If there is a fraudulent pension, it will be deducted from the funeral expenses, and it will be recovered within a time limit if it cannot be deducted.

If an individual who participates in the basic old-age insurance dies due to illness or non-work-related injuries, his survivors can receive funeral grants and pensions, and if he completely loses his ability to work due to illness or non-work-related injuries before reaching the statutory retirement age, he can receive disability allowance.

Retirees can also receive a pension for several months after their death, depending on the specific situation:

(1) If it is a public institution, retired civil servants will receive funeral subsidies and pensions after their death, usually 20 months' salary;

(2) The funeral expenses of ordinary employees are generally six months' salary on average, and the pension is paid monthly.
