Do unemployment benefits include social security and medicare

Unemployment benefits do not include social security and medical insurance.

Social security refers to social insurance, which includes five types of insurance: basic pension insurance, basic medical insurance, unemployment insurance, work injury insurance and maternity insurance; while unemployment benefits refer to unemployment insurance benefits, which are part of unemployment insurance. When people are unemployed and meet the conditions for receiving it, they can receive unemployment insurance benefits, but this does not include other social security programs. While receiving unemployment benefits, workers can choose not to pay social security, including health insurance. If the worker wishes to continue to pay social security, he or she can pay pension insurance premiums and medical insurance premiums as an individual. Therefore, unemployment benefits themselves do not include social security and medical insurance, and are separate insurance programs.

Components of social security:

1. Pension insurance: to provide basic livelihood security for retired workers;

2. Medical insurance: for workers to reduce their financial burden when they seek medical treatment for illnesses;

3. Unemployment insurance: to provide basic living expenses for unemployed workers for a certain period of time;

4. Workers' compensation insurance: to provide medical treatment and financial compensation for workers who have been injured on the job or occupational diseases;

5. Maternity insurance: to provide certain financial subsidies for female workers to give birth.

In summary, unemployment benefits do not include social security and health insurance, and are a separate insurance program.

Unemployed persons shall participate in the basic medical insurance for employees during the period of receiving the unemployment insurance benefits, and shall enjoy the treatment of basic medical insurance. The basic medical insurance premiums to be paid by the unemployed shall be paid from the Unemployment Insurance Fund, and individuals shall not pay basic medical insurance premiums.
