The social insurance registration number is the social security number. The social security number is issued by the social security department to individuals and units participating in social insurance according to the provisions of the Social Insurance Law. The function of social security number is to facilitate the social security department to manage the social insurance relationship, and also to facilitate the insured to inquire and manage their own social security information. The social security number is generally composed of 15 digits, in which the first two digits represent the provincial code, the third to fourth digits represent the city code, the fifth to sixth digits represent the county code, the seventh to 14 digits are the serial number, and the last digit is the check code. Because the social security number is the only identification number, it is called social security identity card.
