Liuzhou Vocational and Technical College was founded in 2002, formerly known as Lushan College of Guangxi University of Science and Technology, and was jointly organized by Liuzhou Municipal Government and Guangxi University of Science and Technology. In April 2020, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, the college was transformed into an independent full-time undergraduate college and renamed Liuzhou Vocational and Technical College.

On April 9, 2020, Lushan College of Guangxi University of Science and Technology agreed to transform Lushan College of Guangxi University of Science and Technology into Liuzhou Vocational and Technical College according to the Implementation Plan on Accelerating the Transformation of Independent Colleges issued by the Ministry of Education.

It became the first case of successful transformation and renaming of Guangxi Independent College, and it was a public institution fully funded by state-owned assets. The campus covers an area of nearly 1283.2 1 mu, with a total investment of over1300 million yuan and a total construction area of 425,400 square meters.

The college has advanced teaching and experimental training buildings and supporting facilities, including nearly 170 experimental training rooms, including robotics principle laboratory, automobile chassis structure training room, engineering cost comprehensive training room and modern manufacturing laboratory.
