School evolution:

The school's predecessor was the Fourth Normal School of Shaanxi Province, which was founded in 1923. 1958 was renamed Suide Branch of Xi Normal University, and 1978 was renamed Yulin Professional Branch of Shaanxi Normal University. In the early 1980s, it moved northward to Xisha, Yulin.

1984 was renamed Yulin Normal College, 199 1 merged with Yulin Agriculture and Forestry College to form Yulin College. Approved by the Ministry of Education in 2003, it was upgraded to an undergraduate college and named yulin university.
