Chongqing Liangjiang Yucai Middle School was formerly known as Yuanyang Middle School in the Northern New District of Chongqing and was founded in 1956. In 2007, the school was renamed as "Chongqing Jingkai Yucai Middle School" and was identified as a joint enrollment school in Chongqing. In March 2013, it was named a Chongqing Key Middle School by the Chongqing Municipal People's Government. In May 2016, the school was renamed "Chongqing Liangjiang Yucai Middle School".
