Why do foreign trade companies always look at appearance when recruiting?

If the work of foreign trade companies is subdivided, there are actually salesmen, merchandisers and assistants. Is the branch mainly engaged in 2b or 2c traditional foreign trade or e-commerce?

Dealing with customers face to face, I feel that there are more traditional salesmen of large products. In many other positions, there is no face-to-face communication with customers.

Are you sure the result is mainly due to appearance? Under the same conditions, of course, most people like beautiful people or plants. But for job recruitment, I think appearance is unlikely to be the decisive factor, but at best it is the icing on the cake.
