The history of Liling Station
Liling Station of Shisan Station has been in operation 100 years, and it is the oldest railway station in Hunan Province.
100 years ago, Liling was still a closed county, and the external traffic was extremely closed. The main function of Liling Station is to transport coal to Hankou for use by Hanyang Steel Works, Daye Steel Works and Daye Iron Works. After Liling Station was completed and opened to traffic, Liling, which had been sleeping for many years, gave full play to the geographical advantages of Wu Chu's throat and opened up a golden road for opening the east gate of Hunan's economic development.
In the early days of its establishment, Liling Station was the terminal of Pingyao Railway. It undertook all the transshipment tasks of Pingkuang coal and Shimen coal, which was one of the more influential land and water transfer stations in South China at that time and played a leading role in the economic development of eastern Hunan. After the founding of New China, Liling Station became an important export base of light industrial ceramics in Hunan, which played a leading role in the construction and development of Liling and the economic prosperity of eastern Hunan.
As the first generation of industrial workers in Hunan, the workers in Liling Station were influenced by Dr. Sun Yat-sen's revolutionary thoughts as early as the June 1st Uprising in 1906, and actively participated in the revolutionary war. Mao Zedong came to Liling four times, and Liling was the place where he engaged in revolutionary activities in his early days.
Liling Station has experienced four historical periods: establishment, decline, recovery and revitalization. When Liling Station was completed at 1903, the building area of the station was less than 100 square meter, there were only 9 employees and only 3 lanes in the station. Due to the terrain, Pingyi Railway is difficult to transport, so the railway department decided to extend the railway to Zhuzhou and rename it Zhuping Railway. It was not until 1908 that Liling Station officially started its passenger service.
Liling Station is adjacent to the Hunan-Jiangxi border and located on the zhejiang-jiangxi railway. It has an important strategic position and has always been a battleground for military strategists. Since the Northern Expedition, there have been wars here, and the railway transportation has gone from bad to worse. The railway built by the people with sweat and blood was destroyed by the war and was interrupted several times. After the July 7th Incident, the Japanese aggressor troops sent planes to bomb stations and bridges, and the railway workers in Liling Station risked their lives to repair the railway and insisted on transportation, which made immortal contributions to the victory of the Anti-Japanese War.
After the founding of New China, Liling Station ushered in the spring of development. Railway builders actively responded to the call of the party and the government to lay a good job in Liling Station. After the expansion, Liling Station has 7 tracks, 2 new shunting lines and/kloc-0 locomotive, which has doubled the freight transportation throughput of the station and absorbed a large number of transportation materials from surrounding areas.

The newly-built station building covers an area of 1, 24 1 m2, the waiting room can accommodate more than 500 passengers, the freight yard covers an area of 26,400 m2, and more than 27,000 tons of goods can be stacked. 1972, Liling station set up a loading and unloading station, and since then it has its own loading and unloading team, which has laid a solid foundation for the rapid development of the station.
The train of the times is full of new hopes. On February 20th, 1982, Liling Station was upgraded to a third-class station, which marked a new page in the construction and development of Liling Station. On June 1984, Liling Station was upgraded to a second-class station.
In order to meet the needs of the overall development strategy of Liling construction, since 1993, the state has invested 60 million yuan to build a new Liling station 2.6 kilometers away from Yangsanshi where Liling Station is located. 1995101October 26th, the rebuilt Liling Station was officially opened, and the old Liling Station in Yangsanshi was renamed as Liling East Station. Since then, Liling Station has formed a new mode of integrated operation of Liling East Freight Station and Liling Passenger Station. The two stations are integrated, with the integrated transportation functions of passengers, luggage, LTL, whole vehicle, container transportation and domestic and international combined transportation. Liling Station shows great vigor and vitality. After the regionalization transformation of zhejiang-jiangxi railway, Liling Station, a century-old station, has further developed and expanded in the electrification transformation. From June 5 to February 20, 2005, Liling Station entered a new stage of electrification development, marking the smooth entry of the Hunan section of the electrification speed-up reconstruction project of Zhejiang-Jiangxi line and the punctual opening of safety. After the electrification speed-up transformation, the Hunan section of zhejiang-jiangxi railway is directly connected to Dengxinqiao Station of Nanchang Bureau, and the original Liling East Station was changed to Liling Branch, and the bureau boundary was also changed from Liling East Station to Liling Station for handover. The scale of Liling Station is huge, which is more conducive to giving full play to the advantages of the station's geographical location, the advantages of the international container port station and the flexibility of passenger and cargo transportation. The annual transportation of passengers is fully equipped.
From May 10, 2007, the Zhuzhou-Liling section and Liling branch line of Shanghai-Kunming Railway in Hunan Province were under the jurisdiction of Nanchang Railway Bureau, and Liling Station was formally incorporated into Nanchang Railway Bureau.
