Zhang Juguang’s experience

Zhang Juguang was born in such a scholarly family, and he was a member of the upper class who believed in Islam, so he received a good family education. He was smart and eager to learn when he was young. He first entered Shenyang Moslem Primary School to learn cultural knowledge and Arabic, and then transferred to Yiguang and Xingao National Primary Schools. In 1942, he transferred to the private Shenyang Islamic Culture College (renamed Northeast Middle School after the liberation and now the predecessor of Shenyang Hui Middle School) founded by his father and also served as the dean. After the victory of the Anti-Japanese War in 1945, he participated in the comedy "The Dinner After Liberation" at school. The school established an autonomous association, and he was elected as the Propaganda Minister. At that time, he also participated in some work of the Sino-Soviet Friendship Association.

In April 1946, Zhang Juguang entered the cram school of Liaodong Middle School and was later promoted to the Music Department of the Art Department of Liaodong College. In October 1947, he transferred to the Music Department of Beiping National Art College to study vocal music. He benefited a lot from the elegant learning environment and good teaching quality. He originally wanted to continue his studies in this art palace to realize his dream of vocal music, but the expensive tuition fee of 600,000 French currency per month has discouraged him, and he finally had to drop out of school.

While in Peking, Zhang Juguang was introduced by his father to the Islamic Society and the Peking Exile Students' Union of Liaodong College. He came into contact with progressive people and progressive books, and his thoughts began to change. Later, he attracted the attention of the Kuomintang authorities by participating in the "anti-hunger and anti-civil war" student movement. In order to avoid pursuit, Zhang Juguang and several classmates went to the Northeast. In September 1948, he entered Northeastern University in Changchun (now Northeast Normal University). In October of the same year, he officially entered the Music Department of the Department of Literature and Art to study vocal music. After graduating in 1950, he stayed in the National Normal University Art Troupe and went to the Jiaohe Coal Mine in Jilin to experience life. During this period, through contact with coal miners, Zhang Juguang deeply felt the greatness of labor and the amiability and respectability of the master workers, which gave him a profound education in his thoughts. After the internship, he was officially transferred to the Northeast Film Studio (today's Changchun Film Studio) as an actor, becoming one of the first generation of film art workers after the founding of New China.

Northeast Film Studio has gathered many outstanding famous actors. Their profound acting skills and rich practical experience have opened the eyes of young Zhang Juguang. He decided to study humbly and become a qualified film actor as soon as possible. Since he is a new actor, most of the roles he accepts are extras and extras, such as "Harvest", "When the Grapes Are Ripe", "Defending the Fruits of Victory", "Satisfied", "In the Cloudy Mountains" and other films. He doesn't get emotional because there are few scenes, but looks for more opportunities to observe them on the spot. In order to improve his acting level, he read many Chinese and foreign classics such as "A Dream of Red Mansions", "Water Margin", "The Tempest", "Big Current", "College Student", etc., and found books such as "The Actor's Handbook" and "Actor's Self-cultivation" and I took notes from lectures at the Normal University and studied them eagerly. He has a strong sense of organization, and no matter what work is assigned by the organization, he can complete it seriously. For a while, the organization assigned him to be responsible for administrative management in the transportation unit. He reported for duty without saying a word and quickly got into the role. He also learned driving skills, punting, horseback riding and other skills. Through study and practice, he broadened his knowledge, mastered the basic skills of an actor, and laid the foundation for future performances.

In 1953, Changchun Film Studio filmed "People on the Grassland" and decided that Zhang Juguang would play the role of Lu Shouqing in the film. This role was the first relatively complete role that Zhang Juguang received after filming. character, so he was very excited and was so excited that he couldn't sleep. He read the character script repeatedly, imagining how to create this character, and regarded this role as an opportunity to improve his acting ability and creative level. In his opinion, a film actor, whether he plays an important role or an ordinary role, even if it is one or two scenes or a sentence, he must take it seriously and devote himself wholeheartedly. Therefore, he played the role of Lu Shouqing very successfully. While taking on the role, the organization recognized that he had cultural and professional expertise and allowed him to serve as the cultural instructor of the crew.

Thanks to the joint efforts of Zhang Juguang and the crew, the filming of "Sanjie Liu" was finally completed. This is my country's first music and scenery feature film. It caused a sensation as soon as it was staged and won many awards at the second Hundred Flowers Awards.

In addition to the above-mentioned films, Zhang Juguang has also played many roles, such as playing the second hell king Xie Zikui in "The Land" (1954); playing the police chief Zhao in "The Bag"; Played the role of chief of staff (1956); played director Wu in "Mother and Daughter Teacher" (1957); played the hotel father-in-law in "Red Child"; played Cui Wen in "She Falls in Love with Hometown"; in "Dongfeng" "Private Deng Zhigao" played the role of a single engineer; in "Private Deng Zhigao" he played the university teacher; in "Waiter" he played the factory director (1958); in "Sisters on Ice" he played the workshop director; in "Prairie Morning Song" he played Zhang Yushan ; Played the role of worker Master Zhang in "In the Cloudy Mountains"; played miner Liu Wen in "Jade Princess"; played the doctor in "Youth in War"; played Old Man Hu in "Flowing Water" (1959); in "Rebirth" Played Zhou Daosheng in "The Legend"; played the director of the Public Security Bureau in "Railway Guards"; played the old master in "The Sino-Japanese War"; played Manager Wang in "The Fire is Red" (1962); played the role in "Mountain Village Accountant" Criminal accountant Zhao Youcai; played Guo Zhongnian in "Three Journeys into the Mountain" (1962), etc.

Because Zhang Juguang is good at voice imitation, he can grasp the characters according to the needs of the plot, and use language to portray the characters in the film deeply. Therefore, in his more than ten years of acting career, he has participated in more than 70 films. Translation work for foreign films and dubbing for many important roles in them. Such as the old professor in "For Life" (1951); the coal minister in "Miners of Donbas"; the Soviet general in "Meeting on the Elbe" (1953); the mayor in "Satko" (1953) Year); as well as "Glinka", "Extraordinary Incident", "Duty", "Traveler", "Women of Nanjiang Village", etc. In the domestic film "Underground Soldiers", the Beijing vendor's cry of "hard noodle pastry" late at night is his imitation. In 1961, he also successfully dubbed the character Ren Bingqing, Daji's biological father, in the film "Daji and Her Father", becoming one of the first actors in my country to dub local actors.

Zhang Juguang has a cheerful personality and versatile talents. He is an active figure in the actor troupe. Regardless of the unit's party, condolence performance, commemorative activities, etc., he can hardly be left behind. Wherever he went, there was singing and joy. From large-scale opera arias to folk ditties, from impromptu performances to voice imitations, you can play a few verses at any time to liven up the atmosphere and let everyone relax after the intense filming. Because the characters he plays, such as leaders and old men, are deeply rooted in the hearts of the people, wherever the troupe goes, people will immediately recognize him and ask him to perform a show or say a few words, which suddenly shortens the distance between the actors and the masses.

The 1950s to the early 1960s was a period of vigorous development of the film industry in New China, and it was also a rising period of Zhang Juguang's acting career. Many of the characters he played were deeply loved and welcomed by the audience, and many of the older generation Filmmakers recalled Zhang Juguang and said he was a rare talent.

It is regrettable that such an excellent film actor could not escape the brutal persecution of the "Cultural Revolution". Just when Zhang Juguang was full of confidence and ready to take on a new role, the unprecedented catastrophe began. Under the slogans of Lin Biao's "Gang of Four" to "suspect everything" and "defeat everything", Zhang Juguang was also fought by the rebels one after another. Some people focused on general issues such as Zhang Juguang's family background and forced him to confess, which severely damaged his spirit. He was persecuted to death in August 1968 at the age of 39. A rising movie star fell just like that.

In 1978, Changchun Film Studio vindicated Zhang Juguang and held a memorial service. The Jilin Provincial Film Association wrote in the elegiac couplet: "The first bud of literary talent is damaged; the voice and appearance are still in Jiuquan, and the injustice is cleared up."
