Xingcheng——Shoushan

It is said that Xingcheng has three major sceneries: Juehua Island, the ancient city and Shoushan Mountain.

Due to the closure of the island in winter, Juehua Island was unable to visit, so Shoushan and the ancient city became the two places we must visit during this trip.

At this moment, we are sitting in the car heading to Shoushan.

I was a little impatient, so I hurriedly got out of the car and looked around.

The mountain is right in front of you, as if you can reach it. She stood quietly under the blue sky, on the shore of the sea, silent. Compared with the towering and majestic mountains in the northwest and southwest, she seems a little unable to handle them. But the beacon tower standing on the top of the mountain is solemnly telling you its history, location and role.

Putting away my disdain and contempt for Shoushan, I walked towards the mountain with inquiry and curiosity.

Here, there are not many rugged trails, but there are many cement roads that can accommodate two vehicles in parallel. Because it is winter, everything is a dilapidated and desolate yellow. Even if there is a trace of green, it can only be seen slightly from the pine trees that remain unbeaten all year round.

Because of the longing for the beacon tower in my heart, I walked very fast. After a while, I felt hot all over my body, but my feet refused to stop.

The wind blows from time to time, and the chill also seeps into the pores. The ears also feel tingling. Han here is so overbearing and unreasonable. I quickly put on my hat and mask.

Ahead, around the corner, a hanging ladder suddenly appeared in front of you, with a small figure vaguely visible on it. I was a little excited. This mountain is actually steep?

Step by step, step by step, in the blink of an eye, we have become the ones others look up to. Gathering up enough energy and working hard, we climbed to the top of the mountain.

The beacon tower stands majestically at the end of the stairs. Under the blue sky, at the highest point, guarding the safety of the people here.

Raising my head, I looked at it silently.

I wonder if there were frequent wolf smoke here hundreds of years ago? Do those Japanese pirates from the sea hate it deeply? Now, it no longer has the pride and glory of the past. Is it lonely?

I walked slowly around the beacon tower, stroking the blue bricks that had been dented by wind and rain. A chill came from the fingertips. The wind was even stronger. Narrowing my eyes, I looked into the distance.

The vast sea seems to be right under your feet. The slowly moving ships and the seabirds passing by in the sky seemed to be right in front of me. Xingcheng, a small coastal city, can also be seen at a glance.

At this moment, I suddenly realized: building a beacon tower here is a wise choice! Presumably, the smoke will spread hundreds of miles, or even thousands of miles.

Nowadays, with radars, networks, patrol aircraft, and cruisers, we can know every little change on the sea. The beacon tower can only be a witness to history! But it has also completed its mission, and it is time to fall into glorious silence. Future generations will always remember that there was such an early warning platform in history.

The wind is blowing as always, just like it did thousands of years ago. The sea is calm, no matter the past or present. We are just a drop in the ocean and a tiny fraction of history! Just like the beacon tower, how important it once was, but now it is just a fragment of history.

Farewell to the beacon tower, I walked down the rugged mountain road.

The way down the mountain is not steep, but it is scary. The road is built between a suspended cliff, and the height between the steps cannot be ignored. In addition, in winter, we wear heavy clothes. If we don't pay attention, we step on the corners of our skirts and coats, and the result will be unbearable. Imagine.

I kept reminding Niuer and greeting Mr. Pan, just like that, walking slowly and cautiously.

Ahead, a young man looked more cautious than us. Not only did he hold on to the railing tightly, but sometimes he even squatted down, slowly stretched out one foot, and tentatively moved forward.

At first, I thought he was just being cautious, but when I got closer, I realized: his face was filled with fear.

"What's wrong with you? Are you feeling uncomfortable?" I asked.

"Afraid of heights." His voice sounded obviously nervous.

"Don't be afraid, walk slowly, let's walk together." I comforted him.

Mr. Pan from behind rushed over and walked alongside him to distract him.

"You are definitely not in the Air Force!" I said with a smile.

"No, I will fly the early warning aircraft." He answered simply, and his voice no longer shook.

"Pilot?" I suddenly wondered, "Where are the pilots who are afraid of heights?"

"I'm not afraid on the plane, I don't feel it." He said slowly.

But I still can’t imagine how this young man who graduated from the Naval Aviation University can fly a plane.

Maybe my knowledge is limited, or maybe some people are only sensitive to certain situations, just like the young man in front of me. Maybe when he gets on the plane, he will be a powerful eagle soaring in the sky.

I think so! After all, our country’s requirements and training for pilots are not generally strict.

We talked and walked slowly.

I now know a little about the difficulty of being a pilot.

They are stationed at the base for training all year round, and undergo compulsory recuperation and physical examinations every year in order to maintain a strong physique and good mental quality.

Finally, we conquered that rugged mountain road. The young man bid farewell to us and strode forward along the wide asphalt road. He no longer had the cowardice he had just now, but only had the upright demeanor and wind-like ability of a soldier.
