Refractory materials commonly used in steel mills refer to inorganic nonmetallic materials (including refractory mineral raw materials) and their products with refractoriness not lower than 1580 degrees. The main raw materials of refractories are natural raw materials, industrial raw materials and synthetic raw materials. Using different processes, these raw materials can be processed into various sintered refractory products, unfired refractory products, fused refractory products, refractory fiber products, heat insulation refractory materials and unshaped refractory materials.

Classification by chemical properties; Acid refractories, neutral refractories and basic refractory (performance index and chemical composition are not listed for the time being).

Classification by chemical mineral composition; Siliceous products, aluminum silicate products, magnesium products, dolomite products, chromium and chromium-containing products, zirconium products, carbon products, nitride products, silicon carbide products, pure oxide products.

Classification by material appearance; Refractory brick, unshaped refractory material, refractory fiber.
