Taiyuan is the center of politics, economy, culture, education, science and technology, transportation and information in Shanxi Province. It is an important energy and heavy chemical city in China, with metallurgy, machinery, chemicals and coal as its pillars and exporting energy, raw materials and mining machinery products as its main features. It is one of the most famous historical cities in northern China. Now, Taiyuan has developed into a modern industrial city with metallurgy, machinery, chemical industry and coal industry as the main body, textile, electronics, food, medicine, electric power, building materials and other industries with considerable scale and relatively complete industrial categories. Geographical environment Yingze Street, South Inner Ring Road and Longcheng Street Night Scene Taiyuan is located in the middle of Shanxi Province, at the northern end of Taiyuan Basin, in the middle of the Yellow River Basin in North China, surrounded by mountains on the west, north and east, and the valley plain in the middle and south. The whole terrain of this city is dustpan-shaped. Located at the intersection of Tongpu and Shitai railway lines in the north and south. The highest altitude is 2670 meters, the lowest altitude is 760 meters, and the average altitude is about 800 meters. The geographical coordinates are11130' ~1309' and 37 27' ~ 38 25' north latitude. The regional outline is bat-shaped, with the lateral distance from east to west of about 144 km and the longitudinal distance from north to south of about 107 km. Climate environment Taiyuan belongs to temperate monsoon climate, with no severe cold in winter, no intense heat in summer, large temperature difference between day and night, long frost-free period and abundant sunshine. The annual average rainfall is 456 mm, the annual average temperature is 9.5℃, 1 month is the coldest, and the average temperature is 6.8℃. It is the hottest in July, with an average temperature of 23.5℃. The annual sunshine hours are 2808 hours. Taiyuan is located in the mainland, far from the eastern coastline, and its northwest is the vast hinterland of Eurasia. In the national climate division, it belongs to the continental monsoon climate type of warm temperate zone. The formation of climate is mainly influenced by three factors: solar radiation, atmospheric circulation and geographical environment. Taiyuan is located in the middle latitude of the northern hemisphere and the geographical environment of Shanxi Plateau, which enables it to receive strong solar radiation and is rich in light energy and heat, so it belongs to the category of high irradiance in agricultural light energy utilization zoning. At the same time, influenced by the westerly circulation and high solar radiation, the climate is dry, with less rainfall and large temperature difference between day and night, showing strong continental climate characteristics. Winter is controlled by Siberian cold air, and summer is influenced by southeast ocean moisture mass. As the season goes on, the two air masses alternately advance and retreat over Taiyuan, changing one from the other and alternating periodically, forming the characteristics of long dry and cold winter, hot and humid summer, sharp rise in spring temperature, sharp drop in autumn temperature, short and windy spring and autumn, and clear wet and dry. Taiyuan's complex and diverse landforms have formed obviously different climatic regions, which not only show obvious vertical changes, but also have certain horizontal differences. Taiyuan is rich in natural resources and mineral resources, mainly including metallic minerals such as iron, manganese, copper, aluminum, lead and zinc, and nonmetallic minerals such as coal, sulfur, gypsum, vanadium, saltpeter, refractory clay, timely, limestone, dolomite and Shimeisha. Among mineral resources, coal is the most abundant, followed by iron ore and gypsum. Shanxi is called "coal sea" because it is rich in coal. Taiyuan is located in the middle of the "coal sea". Geologically, the coal deposits in Taiyuan are called "Taiyuan Coal", ranking seventh in the whole province, and are the main components of Shanxi's coal resources. Taiyuan series coal is not only rich in reserves, but also complete in coal types, including coking coal, fat coal, lean coal, lean coal, gas coal and anthracite. Iron ore reserves are abundant and widely distributed, and the main types are sedimentary metamorphic type, contact metasomatism (skarn) type and sedimentary type, while manganese iron ore reserves are less. Gypsum mine is the third largest mineral in Taiyuan, and gypsum is famous all over the country for its excellent texture. The flora of Taiyuan includes seed plants, ferns, mosses, lichens, algae and fungi, which are characterized by rich plant resources, ancient plant origin and many single genus plants.
