The history of Baoshan College can be traced back to Yongchang Normal School, which was founded in 1905, and Baoshan Normal College, which was established in 1978, is one of the earliest four normal colleges in Yunnan Province. In April 2009, it was upgraded to an undergraduate college with the approval of the Ministry of Education, and was organized by the People's Government of Yunnan Province.
