It is now divided into five sub-mineral categories: elemental non-metallic minerals, mineral-based non-metallic minerals, gemstone-based non-metallic minerals, and clay-based non-metallic minerals.

1. Elemental non-metallic minerals: Compared with the original classification, the non-metallic minerals in this sub-mineral category include 10 mineral types, which are now divided into 7 mineral types. In terms of minerals, there are 10 sub-minerals. The main changes are in sulfur, phosphorus and potassium. In this classification, sulfur is regarded as a mineral species, and natural sulfur and pyrite are listed as sub-mineral species of sulfur mineral species. In the original classification, natural sulfur and pyrite were regarded as mineral species respectively. Consider phosphate rock and apatite as sub-minerals of phosphate mineral species. Apatite is a new sub-mineral species. In this classification, potassium is regarded as a mineral species, and potash salts and potassium-containing rocks are classified as sub-mineral species of potassium mineral species.

2. Mineral non-metallic minerals: This sub-type of non-metallic minerals is divided into 23 mineral types, and there are 40 sub-mineral types. The main changes are in mica, gypsum, abrasive minerals, kyanite and other minerals. Mica was originally classified as industrial mica. The current classification changes industrial mica to sheet mica, adds crushed mica, and lists sheet mica and crushed mica as two sub-minerals of mica minerals; gypsum minerals include gypsum and anhydrite; abrasives Ore is a newly added mineral type, and garnet, corundum, natural oil stone, and topaz are listed as sub-minerals of abrasive minerals; kyanite is a newly added mineral type, and kyanite, sillimanite, andalusite are listed It is a sub-mineral species of kyanite mineral species; other mineral species are newly added mineral species; diopside, tremolite, calcite, iceberg, asbestos, blue asbestos and brucite are listed as its sub-mineral species , among these seven sub-mineral species, except for brucite, which is a newly added sub-mineral species, the others are all regarded as mineral species in the original classification.

3. Gemstone non-metallic minerals: Compared with the original classification, this sub-mineral category was originally divided into 2 mineral types and is now divided into 3 mineral types. The main change is to add colored stone mineral types and cancel agate mineral types. Colored stones are newly added minerals, including inkstones, literary sculpture rocks, ornamental stones, etc. They are craft rocks not covered by the original classification.

4. Rock non-metallic minerals: This sub-mineral category is divided into 13 mineral species, and there are 29 sub-mineral species. Compared with the original classification, natural asphalt mineral species are added. The main changes are in stone, sand, silica, perlite and other rock types.

5. Clay non-metallic minerals: Compared with the original classification of non-metallic minerals in this sub-type, the original classification was 12 mineral types, now it is divided into 9 mineral types, and the number of sub-mineral types is 11 indivual. The main changes are ceramic clay, refractory clay, and ordinary clay.
