Sanjiang university is located in Nanjing, a famous historical and cultural city and the ancient capital of the Six Dynasties. It is a provincial-level undergraduate college approved by the Ministry of Education, the first private undergraduate college in Jiangsu Province and one of the first four private undergraduate colleges in China.

Sanjiang university's school name can be traced back to 1902 Sanjiang Normal School (the predecessor of Nanjing University, Southeast University and other universities). Sanjiang university was founded on 1992 by a group of retired professors and administrators from Nanjing University and Southeast University. 1June, 1993, the Jiangsu provincial government agreed to establish the sanjiang university and try to recruit students. /kloc-0 was formally established in April, 1995 with the approval of the former State Education Commission.
