I used to be HR in the medical industry. Let's talk about the review of Medicine God from another angle.
When I walked out of the cinema, I had an idea: to restore a more three-dimensional and real foreign-funded pharmaceutical company from three things I experienced in a pharmaceutical foreign company. Don't judge, just state the facts.
The first thing: Merck recalled the global ace drug Vioxx for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis.
The background of the incident is as follows: On September 30, 2004, Merck announced a global recall of its ace drug for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis, Vioxx (rofecoxib), because it was found in a research project that taking Vioxx for more than 18 months may lead to an increased risk of heart disease and stroke. Merck decided to take the initiative to recall on a global scale. This will take away the company's annual sales revenue of $2.5 billion, and Merck's share price in the United States fell sharply on the day of the announcement, falling by more than 25%. 1 June1day, Wanluo global recall plan was implemented, and Merck (China) dealer inventory recovery was also started; 109,65438 started the consumer return procedure.
This is an unstable eleventh holiday. I was just an HR intern in Merck's China office. I only remember that National Day, and all the top management of the company didn't have a rest, dealing with related returns and employee placement around the clock.
Scene 1: Every patient who comes to the company in an endless stream every day, at the front desk, has a special person to receive and explain, and assist in completing the drug return process. Of course, I was emotional. I remember that the general manager was from Taiwan Province Province, and he always answered the questions of patients and their families very well.
What impressed me most was a patient who came to ask for medicine in person. He said, I have been ill for so long, and it is useless to take a lot of medicine, only Wanluo works. Why do you want to recall? What should I do? I took it without any adverse reaction, or I dare to take it if you sell me all the recovered medicines.
The answer is of course no. Global recall means that drugs that once brought hope to patients can no longer be used by patients.
Scene 2: At that time, the HR manager of the department had almost no rest, and discussed the placement of personnel with senior management day and night. Wanluo was listed in China only a few years ago, but its performance has grown rapidly and its sales team is not small. What about its employees? For a time, the staff of Wanluo Group was in a panic. Soon, the company's top management reached an agreement: in the overall recall of Wanluo, the company decided not to let any employees of Wanluo Group be laid off. During the short National Day holiday, employees have been properly placed in other product lines and continue to work in Merck East China.
When I finished the National Day holiday, I saw the deep dark circles of the department managers, only to know that they had experienced great tests and sufferings during this National Day holiday. The sales staff of Wanluo Group also returned to the ground from the bottom of the valley.
Who is right? Who is wrong? It's hard to say. What I saw was that after the incident, both patients and employees got due respect and protection.
The second thing: In 2008, the AIDS vaccine developed by Merck Company in the United States, which cost billions of dollars and lasted for 10 years, failed.
This is a highly anticipated AIDS vaccine, not only for companies and employees, but also for professionals in the industry. On the day the news came, everyone was very sad. But that's the truth. The original drug research is too difficult, it takes a long time and costs a lot of money. I remember that every annual meeting of the company will emphasize several important messages. First, the company's cash flow; Second: the company's investment in research and development; Third: the progress of the company's follow-up product line research and development, registration and listing.
So, what is the basis for judging "high-priced drugs"? How can the price of a tablet only equal to the production cost? If there is no R&D cost in the drug price, where will the R&D funds for the subsequent original drugs come from?
I have always admired those companies that insist on research and development and are at the forefront of diseases. I am also particularly happy that Merck was the first company to enter this industry. I still remember that on the first day of each new employee's employment, the first page of the new employee handbook reads the words of founder George Merck:
We should always remember that drugs are produced for people, not for profit. As long as we stick to this belief, profits will certainly follow.
It was also during the training of new employees that I learned that the hepatitis B vaccine that everyone in China had to be injected after birth was transferred by Merck to the government of China at a price of one yuan on 1989. In May, 2005, Merck and the Ministry of Health of China signed a cooperative project on comprehensive AIDS prevention and treatment (C-MAP project). The project lasted for five years and the investment was as high as $30.5 million. This project was first carried out in three counties of Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province. I personally experienced my colleagues going to the place where we talked about color change on business, and I also saw that they won the respect and applause of all colleagues at the annual meeting after they came back.
Therefore, I think it is unfair to present the impression that foreign pharmaceutical companies are above others and are only interested in profit.
The third thing: I learned about the working status of domestic clinicians when recruiting for the medical department.
In the fourth quarter of last year, I did a recruitment project for AstraZeneca Pharmaceutical Department, a foreign pharmaceutical company. My clients are mainly cancer product lines, and a large part of the targets of talent search are clinicians working in relevant departments of 3A hospitals.
It is difficult and expensive to see a doctor. More and more disputes between doctors and patients have pushed hospitals and doctors to the forefront, but do you know the working status of clinicians? Do they really sit facing south?
At least 7 years of hard study, more than a basic master's degree, 2 years of hospital training, almost no rest and rotation, and also a resident who has to work shifts after officially entering the establishment. It's not sure when they will come out. Not only do you have to look at the operating table in the outpatient clinic, but you also have to make rounds and write reports, and you also have scientific research results, which are almost all related to the axis. I am not exaggerating. More than 90% doctors are in a sub-health state under this rhythm of life.
"The doctor asked me a few questions and sent me away." Behind the patient's complaint, there are a lot of outpatient numbers in the doctor's hand, and he doesn't drink water or go to the toilet all morning.
Who is right? Who is wrong? It's hard to say. It's not easy for patients, nor is it easy for doctors. In my impression, when I was admitted to the university, my medical major was definitely a high score. At that time, doctors meant stability and respect. But what about these years? Disputes between doctors and patients are endless. Do you believe me? How many doctors want their children to do this in the future? Treatment itself is risky and not guaranteed. The patient is not God. Throwing all the pressure on hospitals and doctors, who will lose?
Nevertheless, I still don't regret becoming a member of this industry. No matter what kind of "drug dealer" or "commercial bribe", I still respect every professional and dedicated colleague, colleague and medical staff I have met in my career in the pharmaceutical industry.
These are my feelings about watching movies, and they only represent my own views. Maybe there is no truth. Everyone has different perspectives, different interests, different experiences and different worlds.
