Zigong Xiqin Guild Hall is a guild hall building for the salt industry.
Xiqin Guild Hall, also known as "Guandi Temple", is located in Ziliujing District, Zigong City, Sichuan Province. It was built in the first year of Qianlong (1736). The entire building complex covers an area of ??more than 3,000 square meters. Shaanxi salt merchants who came to Zigong to engage in the salt industry raised funds to build a guild hall, so it was called the Xiqin guild hall.
The main buildings of the Xiqin Guild Hall are arranged on the central axis, surrounded by corridors, walls and other buildings to form five large and small courtyard groups with depth, levels and splendor. There are hundreds of exquisite wood carvings, stone carvings, paintings, and clay sculptures in the Xiqin Guild Hall building, which are precious physical materials for studying social life, opera, song and dance, religious art, etc. in the Qing Dynasty. The collection of well salt management contracts, account books, well drilling rock mouth books, etc. has important academic value.
The main buildings of the Xiqin Guild Hall include the Wusheng Palace Gate, the Xianji Tower, the Daguan Tower, the Fuhai Tower, the Jinyong Pavilion, and the Bengu Pavilion. The entire building complex is magnificent, unique in shape, bold and unrestrained, with flying eaves and heavy pavilions, spacious and bright, and each has its own characteristics. There are also the majestic Dahuang Pavilion, the tall and towering Kui Pavilion, the gorgeously decorated middle hall and the solemn and profound main hall.
In 1959, the Xiqin Guild Hall was opened to the public as the Zigong Salt Industry History Museum. It exhibits the historical evolution of well salt production in ancient China and technologies such as drilling, well control, and fishing tools, and uses modern means of expression such as sound, light, and electricity to truly reproduce the evolution and transformation of well salt production technology in the thousand-year-old salt city. On January 13, 1988, the West Qin Guild Hall was listed as the third batch of national key cultural relics protection units by the State Council.
