The 206th Research Institute of China Ordnance Industry Group is an important radar research institute in China. In 2006, the Institute was established in 1968. The research institute consists of several comprehensive departments, professional research rooms, basic research rooms, production debugging rooms and three production workshops.

New concept weapons such as microwave weapons, electromagnetic weapons and laser weapons are constantly being introduced, and information countermeasures, precision guidance and long-range strikes have become the basic features of modern warfare. Facing the new situation and requirements, and responding to the development and changes of modern warfare, the Institute in 2006 clearly realized that we must face up to the gap, catch up with the development pace of high-tech weapons, master the core and key technologies, seize the commanding heights of technology, and actively build a new radar system for high-tech weapons. Based on this, the institute pays attention to the road of technological innovation, and actively strives to "explore a generation" while "producing a generation, improving a generation, developing a generation and pre-researching a generation". The research institute readjusted the product spectrum, strengthened the planning of scientific research and pre-research projects from the aspects of information countermeasures, air defense and anti-missile, long-range strike and precision guidance, and formed a series product spectrum of weapon fire control system with all-round development of land, sea, air, space and measurement. While doing a good job in model research, the institute has continuously attached importance to the pre-research work, further strengthened cooperation with universities, fully exerted the talent advantages of universities, realized the development of borrowing brains, pursued technological innovation, and broke through bottleneck technologies.
