What paint should be used for wooden doors?

As the post-treatment process of the door and wooden door, the quality of the paint directly affects the final use effect. At the same time, the painting cost is also one of the biggest parts of the wooden door cost.

The types of paints can be roughly divided into phenolic paint, alkyd paint, polyurethane paint, nitrocellulose paint, polyester paint (PE paint) and PU paint. Among them, phenolic aldehyde paint and alkyd paint are basically eliminated in decoration due to poor film texture and adhesion, while nitrocellulose paint, polyester paint paint and PU paint are widely used.

Nitro-based paint is simple in construction, suitable for manual operation, and most of it is used for manual decoration, so the paint film is thin, the feel is not good, and the effect is not ideal. PU paint has the advantages of easy polishing and time-saving and labor-saving processing. The disadvantage is that the paint film is soft, and the slight bump is easy to produce white shadow dents. If at least one paint layer is PE paint, this possibility will be greatly reduced. PE paint (polyester paint) has the advantages of hard paint film, strong hiding power and good transparency, which can better express the texture of wood. However, it is difficult to polish and the processing process is time-consuming and laborious, so most manufacturers are reluctant to use PE coating.

At present, 90% of wooden doors in the market use polyester paint, and a few manufacturers use PU paint. Generally speaking, polyester paint and PU paints have to go through six processes, such as color finding, triple-bottom and double-sided, and some brands have to add curing and waxing processes.

Therefore, in the choice of wooden doors, paint is one of the factors that must be considered, which directly affects the texture and feel.
