The Historical Evolution of Guangyuan Economic and Technological Development Zone

1In August, 1993, the people's government of Sichuan Province approved the establishment of "Guangyuan Economic Development Zone in Sichuan Province" with the document of Chuanfuhan [1993] 519, which was listed as a provincial development zone, including Nanhe Industrial and Commercial Zone, Shangxiba Storage and Trade Tourist Zone and Yuanjiaba Heavy Industrial Zone, with an approved planning area of 9.6 square kilometers.

In July 2005, the Guangyuan Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China and the Guangyuan Municipal People's Government made a major decision on resource integration and system reform of the Development Zone. They abolished the former Lizhou Management Committee, Shangxi Management Committee and Yuanjiaba Management Committee of Guangyuan Economic Development Zone and re-established the Guangyuan Economic Development Zone Management Committee.

On June 26th, 2006, the National Development and Reform Commission announced the establishment of Guangyuan Economic Development Zone, which is a provincial key development zone. The planned area of the development zone after resource integration is 22.36 square kilometers.

20121210/With the approval of the State Council, Sichuan Guangyuan Economic and Technological Development Zone was upgraded to a national economic and technological development zone, named Guangyuan Economic and Technological Development Zone, becoming the sixth national economic and technological development zone in the province.
