Formaldehyde comes from four aspects.

Environmental experts believe that at present, formaldehyde in urban and rural households in China mainly comes from four aspects: first, artificial boards such as plywood, blockboard, medium density fiberboard and particleboard used for interior decoration. Because formaldehyde has a strong adhesion, it also has the functions of strengthening the hardness of the board, preventing insects and preventing corrosion, so the adhesive used in the production of wood-based panels at present is urea-formaldehyde resin with formaldehyde as the main component; The second is wood-based panel furniture. The results of a comparative test conducted by Beijing Consumers Association show that among 60 sets of medium density furniture samples taken in Beijing, 29 sets of formaldehyde exceeded the standard, and the over-standard rate was as high as 48.23%. Third, other decorative materials containing formaldehyde, such as white latex, foamed plastics, paints and coatings.

Experts specially reminded that latex adhesives are widely used in wall treatment in wood engineering and decoration, especially the formaldehyde in latex sealed on the wall is difficult to remove; Fourth, textiles for interior decoration, including bedding, wall cloth, wallpaper, chemical fiber carpet, curtains, fabric furniture, etc. In textile production, in order to improve wrinkle resistance, waterproof and flame retardancy, some additives containing formaldehyde are often added.

Experts suggest preventing formaldehyde.

Decoration: the bearing capacity and ventilation of indoor space should be fully considered in the design; Try to choose non-toxic, less toxic, pollution-free, less polluting construction technology, such as wood-based panels should be coated with paint to fully cure them to prevent the release of formaldehyde; Select qualified interior decoration materials in strict accordance with national standards. At present, the state has formulated ten mandatory standards for the limit of harmful substances in interior decoration materials.

Buy furniture: buy furniture that meets the national standards, and ask for the "Furniture Instruction Manual" to see if the formaldehyde content is marked. At the same time, pay attention to the material of furniture, and it is best to choose furniture with high sealing of wood board material; Don't rush to put the newly bought furniture into the living room. If possible, it is best to let the harmful gases in the furniture be released for a period of time as soon as possible before use; Try not to put underwear, pajamas and children's clothes in the newly bought artificial wooden wardrobe; If you buy or use furniture made of large core board, it is found that it has irritating smell and spicy eyes, family members, especially children, often have symptoms such as skin allergy, emotional anxiety, poor diet and persistent cough. It should be considered that it may be caused by formaldehyde and effective treatment methods should be taken as soon as possible.

Detection and treatment: detect newly renovated houses and newly purchased furniture, or when the indoor air quality is not good; It is not advisable to move in immediately after renovation, and windows should be opened for ventilation, so that indoor polluted air can be distributed; If the formaldehyde in the indoor environment has exceeded the standard, it should be handled in time. At present, formaldehyde treatment products mainly include: air purifier, which has a certain adsorption effect on indoor formaldehyde and other pollutants; Deodorant and formaldehyde scavenger, used in decoration engineering, can effectively reduce free formaldehyde in wood-based panels; Harmful gas adsorbers and furniture adsorbents can catalyze the decomposition of indoor formaldehyde and other harmful gases; Formaldehyde sealing agent, coated on unpainted furniture interior wallboard and man-made board, can reduce formaldehyde release; Using plants for purification, chlorophytum, aloe and agave can reduce the indoor formaldehyde concentration.
