According to the Records of Dingzhou compiled during the Republic of China, the address of today's middle school (Dingzhou Middle School) is also Dingwu Academy. It was originally an educational institution serving the imperial examination system. Soon, it was named Dingzhou Government Middle School (the predecessor of Dingzhou Middle School). At that time, the imperial examination did not stop, and schools were not established in counties. As a pioneering breakthrough in feudal imperial examination education, the school caused great repercussions in Baonan counties. Later, with the publication of the Imperial Examination and the promulgation of the Charter of Playing (1903), especially the expansion of the Imperial Examination (1905), the school's scale continued to expand, and courses were set according to the chapter, with the aim of loyalty to the monarch, respect for Confucius, respect for the public, martial arts and practicality. The number of students in the school has increased from more than 30 at first to more than 300. In addition to mathematics, natural history, physics and chemistry, and foreign languages, reading and giving lectures account for a large proportion, which clearly embodies the reformist thought of taking middle school as the body and western learning as the purpose, and has a strong feudal education color.
