Specialty Introduction of Overseas Education College of Xiamen University

In addition to teaching Chinese to all kinds of foreign students and training overseas Chinese teachers, the college also undertakes the management of foreign students in various majors in the school. After 50 years of development, the college has formed the teaching characteristics of facing the world, facing Southeast Asia, face-to-face teaching in China and distance teaching of Chinese. In terms of cultivating high-level students, the college has carried out undergraduate teaching of Chinese language and literature (economic and trade direction, cultural direction), recruited master students in linguistics, applied linguistics (teaching Chinese as a foreign language, comparative direction of Chinese and foreign languages and cultures) and communication major (China culture and communication direction), and jointly recruited doctoral students in literature and art (communication direction of literature and art) with the Chinese Department of the Humanities College.

As one of the overseas Confucius Institutes approved by Hanban, the Institute established the Confucius Institute of Queen Mother University of Thailand overseas. As one of the overseas Chinese teacher training sites designated by Hanban, the College has completed a number of overseas Chinese teacher training programs with more than 900 trainees. As one of the test sites of Chinese Proficiency Test (HSK) designated by the National Chinese Proficiency Test Committee, the College has successfully organized several Chinese Proficiency Tests for foreign students in Xiamen University.
