Interviewer, I would like to ask about your company! ?

I had just graduated from college in 2012. For a newly graduated person, it was difficult to find a job. Moreover, it was my first time to take a train to Shenzhen, so I was not familiar with the place.

I brought a suitcase with a few pieces of clothes, a schoolbag and a computer bag on my back, and only had 2,000 yuan in cash. Why choose Shenzhen? Because a classmate in my class is interning in Shenzhen, everyone’s first choice is to go to Shenzhen after graduation. Then I took the K9017 train from Changsha to Shenzhen, and several classmates came together. Along the way, we were both full of hope for the future and full of confusion about the future. After arriving in Luohu, Shenzhen, we contacted our classmate and then went to Yangmei Community, Bantian, Shenzhen, where he lived.

After we arrived, our current classmates rented a house and had dinner. Then that night we hurriedly walked around the village in the city and started looking for a house. In order to save money, I rented a single room on the sixth floor with a classmate. The rent was 300 and the deposit was 300. I didn’t have much experience at the time, so I paid for it when I saw there was a room available and the price was relatively cheap. When we moved in, we realized that the room was too dirty. It had not been cleaned seriously for at least a few years, especially since the bathroom was covered in a thick layer of yellow stains and there was no toilet door. We spent money to buy washing powder and brushes. Now that Shenzhen is very hot in summer, we cleaned the room naked.

I was too tired that night, so I laid out a bamboo mat on the floor and slept. Since there was no electric fan, I had to fan myself with books, and there were a lot of mosquitoes. The next day we bought the cheapest fans and mosquito coils, and then took the time to submit our resumes.

At that time, there was Yangmei subway station near Yangmei, and the transportation was quite convenient. After we rented an apartment, there are really many people in this community! For the first time, I lamented that Shenzhen is really a world of young people working. In the morning, all the people entering and exiting the subway and buses were migrant workers carrying bags. We were new here and didn’t know what to do. I'm also submitting resumes for the jobs I want to apply for, but since I don't have any work experience, they all come to nothing. Maybe they are all young people, encouraging each other and joking with each other, so they are not so anxious, and the psychological and emotional aspects are slightly better. On the weekend, everyone went to climb Wutong Mountain for the first time.

We took the subway and transferred to the bus. Basically, the first 1-2 weeks were full of curiosity about the city. All kinds of high-rise buildings fill us with emotion. We are as curious as if we were a child from a mountain village on the 18th line entering a modern big city for the first time. Shenzhen is full of flowers all year round

The first time I went to the beach was on a weekend. It took more than 2 hours of bus ride from Shenzhen North to Dapeng. I changed to a bus and walked. We started at 9 am and arrived at Xichong Beach at around 3 pm. The first time I saw the sea, the shock was beyond words! In front of you is the vast sea, with no edge in sight and rough waves. At night, it was dark and filled with camping tents.

We didn’t have a tent, only a mat, and we all made do with it and slept the whole night. Although I am penniless, I am really happy in my heart. I had a cheap camera so I could record the situation.

But we still have to find a job. Whenever we hear from our classmates that there will be interviews in the afternoon, we are happy for them. Especially when it comes to interviews, everyone has to come together in the evening and have a meal together. And encourage each other to come on!

I have been looking for a job for the longest time, so I stayed in the rental house for a long time. My 2,000 yuan was almost used up, so I started to save money. I can only eat steamed buns for every meal, and the happiest thing is to go to Shaxian County for a meal of noodles. Because I didn’t buy tableware in my rented house at first, and it was hard for me to go to my classmates’ rented house to eat. So you still have to rely on yourself. Loss and confusion have always been hanging over my head like a dark cloud.

I have interviewed at several companies, but they were all quite far away, and there were cases where I was rejected. Then there will always be a turning point, I believe I just lack an opportunity!

One day I received an interview, which was near Gangxia, Futian District. It was relatively close, so I prepared my resume and set off early. Futian District is really beautiful, with high-rise buildings, clean streets, and dense banyan trees. It makes people feel cool even in the hot August.

After the interview, I felt it was okay, but the salary was not high at the beginning. The salary for my first job in 2012 was only 3,500 yuan. But I feel very happy mentally and feel that my opportunity has come.

That afternoon I did not go back to the dormitory immediately, but went to Lianhua Mountain in Shenzhen. I wanted to go to Lianhua Mountain to take a look and relieve the resentment I had felt for many days.

I met an older brother when I was hiking. He seemed to be in his 40s. I didn't say hello to him at first. He asked me for directions, and I told him that Lotus Mountain was very big and that you could walk to the Lotus Lake to get close to Peking University Hospital. Then I chatted with my eldest brother for a few words. He said that he was taking a day off and came to climb the mountain. He rarely came here usually. Although I have been working in Shenzhen for a long time, I seldom climb mountains and usually drive.

Then I asked my eldest brother, after working for so long, he must have a happy family in Shenzhen, right? My eldest brother knew that I came to Shenzhen not long after graduation, so he told me this sentence that I will always remember. Even now, it is a bit incomplete. The eldest brother said: "When you just graduated, it must be the most difficult time in your life. You will be very confused and don't know what job is suitable for you. You can find a job in your major in time, and the salary is not high. Even companies in this major don't even have resumes. I didn’t know how to read it, so I just checked it out. When I came to Shenzhen, there were very few buses and subways, and I slept in the streets and parks. But you have to believe that any difficulty is just a pain for a while, and it won’t last a lifetime unless you don’t. Work hard. Most of your current difficulties come from entering society and entering the workplace, so you must survive first, find a job, and then you can slowly develop. "From ancient times to the present," he added. Nothing is easy. But the simple truth is that as long as you persist and work hard, you will definitely make a difference. Don't worry, there will be opportunities and rules for everything. Mentally remembering this sentence silently, my eldest brother took a break and said goodbye to me.

From then on, I started my own working career. I suffered a lot and made mistakes along the way, but I always remember what my elder brother said, as long as you live and persevere, hard work will lead to changes.

Ten years have passed from 2012 to 2023, and I have been in Shenzhen for ten years. Shenzhen is a city full of changes and challenges, but I am still persisting. What the elder brother said about living and persevering is an open-minded and persevering spirit, which is the most precious spirit of all our migrant workers. I hope that everyone who has just emerged from society should learn this spirit and create a better tomorrow through their own efforts!
