Several islands were created through sand reclamation in the South China Sea

As of 2021, 8 islands have been created through sand reclamation in the South China Sea (this data was collected in 2017). They are: Huayang Reef, Mischief Reef, Chigua Reef, Dongmen Reef, Gaven Reef, Subi Reef, Fiery Cross Reef, and Woody Island.

1. Huayang Reef

Huayang Reef is the southernmost Nansha Islands stationed by China. 2. Mischief Reef

3. Chigua Reef

4. Dongmen Reef

5. Nanxun Reef

Nanxun Reef is one of the islands and reefs of China’s Nansha Islands and is administratively under the jurisdiction of Sansha City, Hainan Province. For a long time, the conditions on the island have been harsh and the places for people to move are narrow. In order to change the harsh environment, China started reclamation operations in the winter of 2013. As of November 2014, the reclamation area was 0.18 square kilometers.

6. Subi Reef

Zubi Island is one of the islands and reefs in China's Nansha Islands. It is administratively under the jurisdiction of Nansha District, Sansha City, Hainan Province. In January 2015, sand reclamation began on the Subi Reef to create Subi Island, which has become the second largest island in the Nansha Islands.

7. Yongshu Reef

Yongshu Reef is 26 kilometers long, about 7.8 kilometers wide, and covers an area of ??108 square kilometers. It has multiple relatively independent sub-reefs. Its southwest The reef covers an area of ??4.33 square kilometers, and an artificial island of 2.8 square kilometers has been established, namely the southwest island of Yongshu Reef, or Yongshu Island for short.

8. Yongxing Island

Wongxing Island, also known as "Lin Island", was named because of the dense forests on the island.
