Historical evolution of Chaozhou town
Chaozhou Town is located in the Pingtung Plain in the west of Taiwan. The place name of Chaozhou was originally the name of Chaozhou Prefecture in Guangdong Province. At the initial stage of development, there were many immigrants from Chaozhou Prefecture in Guangdong Province. After reclamation into a new world, these immigrants transplanted the place name of their ancestral home to this newly developed land and named it "Chaozhou" Zhuang, which is called "Chaozhuang" for short. Early ancestors gathered and lived in the old street and built the Sanshan King Temple to serve the temple, which developed the city street of Chaozhou today.
After Zheng Chenggong ruled Taiwan in the late Ming Dynasty, it belonged to Wannian County (later Wannian Prefecture). In the 23rd year of Qing Emperor Kangxi (1684), it was changed to Fengshan County. In the early days of Japan's occupation of Taiwan, Chaozhou District was established, which belonged to Chaozhou Branch of A Monkey Hall. Later, the district was changed to Zhuang, which belongs to Chaozhou County, Kaohsiung. On October 25, 1945, after getting rid of the colonial rule of Japanese imperialism, it changed town and belonged to Chaozhou District of Kaohsiung County. In 195, it was changed to Pingtung County, where all residents spoke Taiwanese and did not understand Chaozhou.
in the 21st year of Guangxu reign in Qing dynasty (1895), Japanese imperialism launched the Sino-Japanese War of 1895 to invade China, forcing the Qing government to sign the treaty of shimonoseki, which humiliated the country and occupied Taiwan Province and Penghu Islands in China. Lin Shaomao, a native of Ahou (now Pingtung County) in Fengshan County, was named Yicheng, angry at the atrocities of Japanese aggression against Taiwan Province, and gathered hundreds of people to revolt against Japan in Fengling, south of Fengshan City, Tainan. The team quickly grew to thousands, becoming the commander-in-chief of the rebel army in Fengshan, Ahou and Chaozhou, and often attacking the Japanese army in Tainan. On December 27th, 1898, together with Chen Fa, more than 3, people held an "Anti-Japanese General Uprising" in the southern region, jointly besieged Chaozhou, and defeated the Japanese reinforcements in the middle. The rebel army killed one Japanese in Chaozhou city, set fire to the Japanese military police station and office in Chaozhou, and violently killed the director of the office in Chaozhou, which was very popular. Four days later, Chaozhou fell, and the rebel army retreated to Hengchun area to continue the struggle. History is called "Chaozhou Incident".
