What is the punishment standard for theft?

Whoever steals property worth more than 2,000 yuan, steals it three times in a row within two years, steals it at home, steals it with a murder weapon, or pickpockets shall file a case for prosecution and be sentenced to fixed-term imprisonment of not more than three years, criminal detention or public surveillance, and shall also, or shall only, be fined. Whoever steals property worth more than 70,000 yuan but less than 400,000 yuan shall be sentenced to fixed-term imprisonment of not less than three years but not more than 10 years and shall also be fined. Whoever steals property worth more than 400,000 yuan shall be sentenced to fixed-term imprisonment of not less than 10 years or life imprisonment, and shall also be fined or confiscated.
