Lixian County, formerly Lizhou, is located in the northwest of Hunan Province, in the middle and lower reaches of Lishui River, on the west bank of Dongting Lake. Historical evolution
Lixian County is named after the Lishui River runs through the whole territory, which first appeared in Shangshu Yugong: "Minshan leads the river, and the east is Tuo, and the east is Li." Spring and Autumn belongs to Chu, Qin belongs to Qianzhong County, Han belongs to Zero Yang County of Wuling County, Three Kingdoms, Western Jin Dynasty, Eastern Jin Dynasty and Southern Dynasties belong to Tianmen County, and Li Zhou was established in the first year of Shaotai of Emperor Liang Jingdi (555). In the ninth year of Emperor Kai of Sui Dynasty (AD 589), Tianmen County was abolished, and Lizhou was established, and Liyang County was newly established.
