Why do ordinary people refer to Africans of the Negro race south of the Sahara Desert?

Because when we say "Africans", we refer to black people. But there are white people in Africa, and only the Negroes are black. So what we call "Africans" are the Negroes who live south of the Sahara Desert.

01. Negro people are black people

Negro people are the transliteration of English Negro, and the Chinese meaning of Negro is black people, but this word is considered to be discriminatory. So it is not used much. Not only "Africans", the "Africa" ??in most people's minds is not the whole, but sub-Saharan Africa. Sub-Saharan Africa is poor, backward and disease-ridden, but this is the hometown of the Negro people.

The Negroes are divided into two groups, one is the Sudanese Negroes located north of the equator, and the other is the Bantu Negroes located south of the equator. The characteristic of Sudanese Negroes is black, very, very black, so black that it blends into the night, even so black that it shines. The Bantu Negroes, on the other hand, are not dark enough and have different shades, generally several shades lower than the Sudanese Negroes.

However, there are branches under these two major branches. The Sudanese Negroes are mainly divided into Nilotes and West Sudanese. The Nilots are the blackest of these people, so black that they shine. Moreover, the Nilot people are very tall and strong, and they mainly live in South Sudan. The black people in West Sudan are also very dark, but their blackness is matte black, their faces are narrow, and some of their skin is chocolate color.

However, the black people we see are mainly the Bantu Negroes with lighter skin. In the entire Africa, the Bantu Negroes are also the largest ethnic group. The Bantu Negroes have experienced many great ethnic migrations in history, so their distribution range is wider than that of the dark-skinned Sudanese Negroes. From the equator to South Africa, there are Bantu settlements everywhere.

02. Africa also produces white people

In northern Africa, there are white people, belonging to Arabs and Berbers, in North African countries such as Morocco, Algeria, and Tunisia. , the main ethnic groups in the country are these two groups, and the race is mainly white, while black people are a minority.

Africa north of the Sahara is relatively far from the equator, with the Tropic of Cancer passing through it. Unlike the hungry black countries, the economic conditions here are relatively good because of the oil storage, at least there is no threat of famine. The religion is basically Islam, and the clothing is similar to that of people in the Arabian Peninsula.

Like the Negroes, the Arabs and Berbers of North Africa are also native African residents, but we subconsciously think that Africa is the country of black people, and those with white skin are the descendants of the invaders. Take the Berbers as an example. They have lived near Egypt since ancient times. They can be found in ancient Greek and Roman records, and later ruled Egypt.

So, not all Africans are black, there are still many native-born white people.
