Introduction to Szczecin

Szczecin (Polish: Szczecin, German: Stetin, Kashubi: Sztete &; Ampeuml is the capital of Poland's West Pomerania province. It is also the seventh largest city in Poland and the largest seaport in the Baltic Sea. Originally named Stiding, it was ruled by Poland, Sweden, Denmark, Prussia and Germany in history. After World War II, the city became a part of Poland, and the Germans who stayed there were deported to Germany. Stiding accepted Polish immigrants mainly from Poznan. The city was renamed Szczecin and rebuilt as an important industrial center. Witnessed the anti-* * riots in 1970 and 1980, and also shared the birth of the solidarity trade union movement. Today, Szczecin has become one of the most attractive cities in Poland.
