Old Master Q cartoon

Old Master Q (English: Old Master Q) refers to two works:

The first one refers to Wang Ze's Old Master Q (published in 1963), formerly known as Wang Jiaxi, which is a very famous cartoon in the Chinese community. In 1963, Old Master Q was published in Hong Kong under the pseudonym of the eldest son.

the second one refers to Old Master Q written by Peng Di (published in 193s), formerly known as Feng Di, which was a famous cartoon work in China in 193s. At that time, he published cartoons such as "Old Master Q" and "Old Sweet Potato" in newspapers, and their characters were very similar to Wang Ze's "Old Master Q", which was said to have been plagiarized by Wang Ze (Wang Jiaxi).

This article mainly talks about Old Master Q written by Wang Ze's family.

★ Author's identity ★

Wang Jiaxi (pen name "Wang Ze"), the author of Old Master Q, was born in Tianjin in 1924. He worked as an artist in Tianjin in the 195s, and moved to Hong Kong in 1956. Now he is over 8 years old and has settled in the United States. Now he is doing promotion and publicity around the world, and Old Master Q is succeeded by his eldest son Professor Wang Ze and his second son Wang Han. At present, his eldest son, Wang Ze, inherits his creation.

[ Edit this paragraph] Content features

Most of the early works were printed in black and white, and later, the color version of Old Master Q was released one after another. Its other feature is short and concise, except for long cartoons, which are generally only four to six squares (there were also eight squares in the early days).

While Old Master Q's cartoons bring humor to readers, they also reflect the changes of social environment (especially from 196s to 198s). The content sometimes shows social problems such as poverty, theft, suicide and gangs. It sometimes mocks popular cultures such as shemale, trendy clothes and rock music (Old Master Q often "teaches" those who are neither fish nor fowl).

On rare occasions, Old Master Q Comics will seriously express their views on the political changes in Hong Kong during the 196s and 198s. It criticizes the drawbacks of cultural exchanges between China and the West, and the Sino-British Joint Declaration signed in 1984 has also become one of the themes. In the late 198s and early 199s, some characters even showed their fear of Hong Kong's return to China in 1997. Sometimes, the ending of cartoons directly or indirectly attacks the China government.
