How to choose a major and school for studying in Chinese department

First, the curriculum is not conducive to studying abroad and choosing a major.

Chinese majors have a wide range of employment in China. If the goal is to study abroad, choosing a liberal arts major is obviously not the best. For example, the main courses of Chinese language and literature major are literature history, linguistics and so on. These have nothing to do with foreign majors, so they are very unfavorable when applying for colleges and majors.

Second, the two directions of studying abroad

Under normal circumstances, students majoring in China will choose the following two directions when studying abroad:

1, change your major and apply for business or science.

Most students majoring in Chinese will choose business or science to continue their studies, but only some countries and some majors allow students with liberal arts backgrounds to apply for majors, such as the Master of Accounting at the University of Sydney, Australia. However, the disadvantage of changing majors is that when studying, students with liberal arts background will have more difficulties than students with business or science backgrounds.

2. Continue to major.

If you have high enthusiasm and interest in Chinese language and literature, translation major and education major are more suitable choices. Of course, these majors also have higher requirements for IELTS scores. On the one hand, translation and education majors have very high requirements for English. Take Australia as an example. The requirement of IELTS for teachers is 7788. On the other hand, the immigration score of teachers' majors is the highest. This major is a good choice if the applicant has an immigration plan.
