Jiayuguan was established in the 1950s because of the "Jiuquan Iron and Steel Company" and is a young city. It is now a prefecture-level city in Gansu Province and currently governs Yuquan Town, Xincheng Township, Anyuangou and Wenshu Township. The urban population of 200,000 is basically immigrants from all over the country. Workers from Anshan Iron and Steel were transferred to Jiayuguan to build the steel city. Therefore, there are mostly Northeastern people here. The composition of the population has a lot to do with public security. Public security in Jiayuguan is stricter and better than other cities.
