Longing for a song!
The green swallow sang it. This is an American folk song. Also known as home on the mountainside and home on the mountains.
This song was composed by Hegli and Dan Kelly who immigrated to Arkansas in the New World in 1873. Because of its beautiful melody and lyrics reflecting the situation of early immigrants, it was designated as the state song of Arkansas in 1947, also known as the cowboy national anthem.
Lyrics: Buffaloes roam freely on the grassland. I want to make the grassland my home. Curses and noises are rare here, and darkness disappears in the distance. When night falls and the stars are shining, I would rather stand in the distance and think silently. Is the sky brighter than the earth? My home is on the grassland, and countless antelopes and deer are wandering. Curses and noises are rarely heard here, and darkness disappears in the distance. How clear the breeze is, how fragrant the air is, and how brilliant the city lights are. How can I deviate from my hometown?
