With the development of commodity economy, the cash crops that need water are increasing day by day, the irrigated land is expanding, and fish ponds, lotus ponds and horseshoe fields are increasing day by day; Many former wasteland hillsides have become citrus bases. According to the statistics from 1979 to 1990, the citrus area in Tanxia Town increased from 78.4 tons in 48 mu to 7252 tons in 13394 mu. The citrus area in the Ninth Five-Year Plan increased from 248 mu 9.4 tons to 5795 mu 1225 tons. Qingshitan reservoir area 1980 to 1990, the state invested 393,300 yuan to help the relocated households plant fruit trees. At present, 34 fruit trees are planted per capita, and fruit income has accounted for more than 50% of their agricultural income.

At the beginning of 1983, the experiment of transferring water from the reservoir to Lijiang River was successful. 1984, the district hydropower department issued the Notice on Starting to Transfer Water from Qingshitan Reservoir to Improve the Navigation of Lijiang River in Dry Season this year, which effectively helped Guilin solve the problem of water supply difficulties.

From 1970 to 1982, the reservoir has received more than 6,700 government officials and tourists from more than 40 countries and regions, including Denmark, Italy, Japan, the Soviet Union, Thailand and the United States.
