The announcement pointed out that according to the current epidemic situation in COVID-19 and the need for prevention and control, some measures of the Announcement on Temporarily Stopping Entry of Foreigners with Valid Chinese Visa and Residence Permit jointly issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the State Administration of Immigration on March 26, 2020 were adjusted as follows:

From 0: 00 on September 28, 2020, foreigners with valid residence certificates such as work, private affairs and reunion in China are allowed to enter the country, and the relevant personnel do not need to re-apply for visas. If the above-mentioned three types of residence permits held by foreigners expire after 0: 00 on March 28th, 2020, the holders can apply for corresponding visas to China embassies and consulates abroad with the expired residence permits and related materials on the premise that the reasons for coming to China remain unchanged. The above personnel shall strictly abide by the epidemic prevention laws and regulations of China.

Types of visas in China

Chinese visas are divided into diplomatic visas, courtesy visas, official visas and ordinary visas.
