Coupled with abundant diamond reserves, South Africa should be quite rich.

In fact, South Africa, which had mines at home, was once rich. Before 1990s, South Africa was the only developed country on the African continent with unprecedented economic prosperity and developed industry.

In that case, why did South Africa's economy collapse after apartheid was abolished and blacks became masters of the country? Where are the white people who used to run South Africa in good order?

First, the white South Africa era.

In the early days of the great voyage, the first people who came to this barren land of South Africa were Dutch, who lived here for generations and eventually formed a unique nation-Boer. Later, diamonds and gold mines were discovered in South Africa. In order to compete for these resources, the British colonists and local Boers broke out the "Boer War". After the British withdrew, independent South Africa was not only economically prosperous but also militarily successful under the rule of Boer. Once nuclear weapons were developed, even the five permanent members of the United Nations were quite afraid.

Second, blacks are the masters of the country.

For a long time, black people in South Africa have fought for social and economic status for a long time. The local apartheid system has become the object of international condemnation.

1990, the last white president of South Africa, Deslak, resisted the pressure of the party and the accusation of traitors, ignored the opposition of right-wing groups, held a referendum among whites and decided to abolish the apartheid system. At the same time, those black political prisoners were released, and Mandela was the one who stayed in prison for the longest time.

Subsequently, with the support of the United Nations, Mandela cooperated with President de Klerk to completely abolish apartheid, and blacks gained the same rights as whites, including the right to vote. To this end, De Klerk also won the Nobel Peace Prize with Mandela.

1994, South Africa held a general election, with blacks accounting for more than 80% and whites accounting for only 10%. Mandela, a black hero, successfully became the first black president in South Africa's history.

When the general election failed, De Klerk also made a speech. Five years later, he will run for the presidency of South Africa again. He also naively thought that the abolition of apartheid led by him realized the true democracy of South African citizens.

In fact, not to mention the new racial discrimination policy of blacks and whites, even in terms of population ratio, whites are unlikely to regain power.

De Klerk was soon forgotten, blacks could not remember him, and whites spurned him, thinking that he pushed the white group into the abyss. The abolition of apartheid is almost entirely due to Mandela. Since then, few people have mentioned De Klerk again.

Third, the collapse of political, economic and social systems.

The black man in charge kicked the white man out of the office. They haven't washed the mud on their legs, and they don't know how to turn on the computer. Almost all the government management posts, military commanders, police and other civil servants that used to be held by whites have been replaced by blacks, and the whole of South Africa has become a black world.

White people were expelled from public office and lost a lot of jobs. Technical elites or manufacturing owners, faced with the suppression of whites by the black government, emigrated to other countries one after another. Ordinary white people can only enter slums and live a poor life once lived by blacks.

During the white rule in South Africa, due to strict examination, the level of science and technology and medicine ranked first in the world, and even the world's first heart surgery was completed in South Africa.

When the white elite fled in succession, black people in South Africa proposed to the government that the previous qualification examination was too strict, which made it difficult for black people to pass the examination, so it was required to reduce the difficulty of the examination.

As a result, the qualification examination standards for lawyers, doctors and teachers in South Africa have dropped again and again. So far, foreigners in South Africa have to go back to their own countries for treatment of colds, fearing that black doctors will prescribe the wrong medicine.

Mandela also released immigrants, making blacks from poor countries around him flock to him. Many of these people are drug addicts and criminals. As a result, once peaceful South Africa has become one of the most insecure countries in the world.

Today's South Africa, with its rapid economic recession, rampant AIDS, high crime rate and serious corruption, has no sense of existence in the world. There is no longer the glory of the former "diamond capital" and "rainbow country", and what awaits it will be more severe challenges and reality.
