How to reflect the uniqueness of overseas Chinese literature?

Overseas Chinese literature is a brand-new academic field that only appeared in the early 1980s, and it is gradually expanded with the literature of Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao as the "approach bridge". Although the starting point is the same as comparative literature, there is no reference from international experience in this field, which was gradually expanded by early pioneers. Over the past 20 years, it has developed into a considerable academic team, with hundreds of academic works and countless academic papers. Held 13 annual academic conference and international seminar, and trained many master students and doctoral students in this field. However, because the participants in this field span all countries in the world, it was not until May 2002 that the National Academic Research Association was established in Jinan University. Nevertheless, as a new worldwide academic field, it has been recognized by China scholars and writers at home and abroad, and gradually merged with international immigrant literature and scattered literature, forming a cultural and literary "circle" with oriental characteristics. However, if overseas Chinese literature wants to become a mature discipline with classic significance, it must be upgraded, deepened and deepened on the original basis. It is related to the development prospect of the discipline and its influence in related academic fields. At present, we still lack authoritative works with a theoretical system that can form a disciplinary basis, which is a major event that scholars are trying to do recently. In addition, due to the limitation of language, many works and research results in this field have not attracted the attention of other countries in the world, especially the mainstream academic circles in the West. Therefore, we should advocate and support foreign Chinese writers with bilingual writing ability to create bilingual works; We should also promote translation in this field. In academic research, we should combine China's literature and China's non-native literature with comparative literature with international and multilingual advantages, and look for the internal laws of China's literature in a broader sense and its cosmopolitan and even global characteristics.

Overseas Chinese literature and comparative literature have the same and similar development background and path, so the roots and bodies of these two fields have unusual natural academic ties. There are several academic overlapping fields between the two, and there are many academic spaces and viewpoints that can be exchanged and crossed with each other in research horizons and methods.

Overseas Chinese literature and comparative literature belong to the new frontier of China academic literature research, which has played a positive role in opening up new horizons, new ideas and new methods of literary research. The establishment of these two fields has provided a broader vision and new interpretation contents and angles for the study of China literature, which has aroused the reflection on the traditional way of thinking.
