History of Taocha Canal Head Hub Project

On June 26th, 65438+ 1969, a groundbreaking ceremony was held in Jiuzhong Township, then Deng County (due to the migration from the reservoir area, the former Deng County of Henan Province agreed to include Jiuzhong and other important towns in Xichuan, that is, Jiuzhong Township was under the jurisdiction of Deng County at that time). Shipangang, Taocha Village, mobilized more than 65,438+10,000 people in Nanyang area to participate in the project construction. It took five years and eight months, and in August of 1.974, the main canal for diverting water from Dan was completed with a depth of 49 meters, a bottom width of 1.5 meters, an upper width of more than 500 meters and a total length of 1 km. If the earthwork volume of the whole project is built into a small dam with a width of 1m and a height of 1.5m, it can rotate around the earth along the equator. Due to the poor construction conditions and harsh environment, 2880 people were disabled at the construction site, and 14 1 person died. After the project is completed, the floodgate will be opened for flood discharge on August 16 of the same year.
