Foreign driver's license to domestic new regulations

Legal basis: Administrative Measures of the People's Republic of China on Motor Vehicle Driving License

Fifteenth China citizens who hold a foreign or Hongkong, Macao and Taiwan Province driver's license or an international driver's license and have lived abroad for more than six months may apply for a driver's license. The following procedures shall be implemented when applying:

(a) fill in the "motor vehicle driver's license application form";

(2) Submit People's Republic of China (PRC) identity card or passport;

(3) Submitting the driver's license or international driver's license of foreign countries or Hongkong, Macao and Taiwan Province provinces;

(4) receiving a medical examination.

If the vehicle management office meets the requirements, it will issue a driver's license after passing the examination.

Article 16 Foreign (regional) personnel holding foreign or Hongkong, Macao and Taiwan Province driver's licenses or international driver's licenses may apply for driver's licenses or temporary driver's licenses respectively. The following procedures shall be implemented when applying:

(a) fill in the "motor vehicle driver's license application form";

(2) Submit passport and other entry identification documents;

(3) Submit proof of residence (the residence period for applying for a driver's license is more than one year, and the residence period for applying for a temporary driver's license is more than two months and less than one year);

(four) to submit the driver's license or international driver's license of foreign countries or Hongkong, Macao and Taiwan Province provinces;

(5) Conduct a physical examination.

If the vehicle management office meets the requirements, it will issue a driver's license or a temporary driver's license after passing the examination.

Article 17 Provisions on examination subjects.

(1) The examination subjects are: traffic regulations and related knowledge, venue driving and road driving.

(two) to apply for a motor vehicle driver's license for the first time and to apply for an increase in the number of quasi-driving models, the examination shall be conducted in accordance with the subjects in the examination subject list (Annex I).

(three) holding a foreign or Hongkong, Macao and Taiwan Province driver's license or an international driver's license, and passing the examination of traffic regulations and related knowledge. Those who have been driving for more than three years are exempt from the road test.

(four) the driver's license of the army and the armed police force, and the examination subject is road driving.

Those who hold driving licenses for small cars and motorcycles in the army and armed police forces for more than three years are exempt from road driving tests.
